Miniature acrylic painting on canvas attached to a silver plated wire frame, with dangling stones. (I think it's agate, but I'm not sure)

Original jewelery design by Nela Dunato

The stones might also be black onyx flakes, but you cant be sure until you consult someone who knows these stuff

and the miniature canvas idea - brilliant!

Stunning!!! The picture is pretty shiny. I'd guess from that that it's either black agate or black jasper. But if it has a slightly waxy look to the stone in person (not a feel, but a look), then it's jet.

Madness is like ice cream on a hot summer's day.

You know you shouldn't go there, but it feels
so, so good.

Onyx is pure matte black, and on these (in some thinner pieces) blue tint is visible. I can tell most common gemstones, but those that come in various colors (like agate) and are probably artificially dyed are tricky. :)

Thank you very much

Thank you! :)

Wow, thanks for your insight! :D Hmm I wouldn't say they're waxy, but perhaps this helps - on some thinner stones there's a blue tint visible, and on a few bigger ones there are sort of grayish-transparent parts, similar to smoky quartz. I don't know if these two are the same stone, but I guess they wouldn't mix two different kinds in the same pack.

Oh, cool :)
well, do you see maybe some golden sparks through out the flakes? Maybe it's Golden Sands in it's black version...usually in bigger pieces you can see the distinction, but flakes are residues from the work, so they might not show all the qualities.

And you're most certainly welcome :) I love gems :)
